Our History

About TheGushyAfghan

We're the Baschshis! The loving parents who have been married for 28+ years, and their children - Omar and Zarlasht. Baba Nazir and Khala Zarin are both retired, after living 30+ years in the United States. Both immigrated from Afghanistan in the early 1980s-early 1990s. Omar and Zarlasht were both born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, CA. Both children have masters degrees in engineering, and curiously exploring new avenues in sharing their culture with the world.

What started as a hobby in 2020, slowly turned into a passion and desire to share our food and culture with the start of our business in 2022. We hope that our story inspires you, and that you choose us for your catering and foodie needs. Our sole objective is to have you "Experience the taste of Afghan Culture..." and leave you 100% satisfied.

Our father, and the irresistible face of our brand. Baba Nazir was born and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan. He enjoys family, time, long walks and cute animal videos.

Zarin Baschshi

Our mother, and resident culinary expert. Khala Zarin was born and raised in Kandahar, Afghanistan. She enjoys food, quality time and laughs.

Omar Baschshi

Omar, our logistics and technical lead. Agha Omar was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA - an R&D engineer in the medical device space by day and a passionately curious life-goer by night.

Zarlasht Baschshi

Zarlasht, our head chef and cooking enthusiast. BibiShirin Zarlasht was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and is a chemical engineer in the medical device space and an avid cook.
